The reason I am irked?...... hmm, it could be the trail report on sledtheweb from an Indian River reporter stating that Gaylord trails were not being groomed, and then went on to tell people just to come to their area to enjoy good trails.
I don't fault anyone for trying to get traffic so they can make money in their area, but I do fault anyone for lying to do it.
We were irked thinking maybe they were right, and we had gotten wrong information. That wasn't the case. After talking with the DNR late today they reported what was actually happening.
Gaylord groomers were out yesterday and did their first panning of the trail. Stating that ground wasn't fully frozen and they did not want to dig up dirt .. instead were panning to get the base in good. They were going over a second time panning today.
Tomorrow, with the cold temps which have already started to arrive here.. they will drag and start the real grooming to have the trails in shape for the weekend.
We are going to stay positive. It makes sense and we want good trails.
DNR also reported that East Jordan will be grooming Lakes of the North for this first week/so while equipment is being worked on. That sounds good too! Originally, they didn't think they would be able to get those trails groomed.
We have several rooms of riders who all enjoyed getting out today. Although the snowfall thru the day made keeping their visors on their helmets clear rather difficult. But isn't that a 'good' problem to have when it comes to snowmobiling?.. they did report trail 7, directly along Old 27 is very rough. But otherwise, report they enjoyed their rides. One group went to Lovells, another Lakes of the North, and Blue Bear. Blue Bear was excellent. Groomer was seen by Johnson Road.
We hope to get out on the trails tomorrow since I don't have to go into work. Just a few things to get done... breakfast, kitchen clean up, 3 rooms to clean, groceries and of course laundry. Throw in some dog walking and phone answering. I am determined to ride my sled.
Winter Storm Warning! Again! ... now that takes the edge right of my irkiness.
